Since this never was entered into the database I would like to discuss
it a bit here before putting it in myself. Some off-line discussions a
month or more ago indicated that perhaps the operation that I see as a
failure is actually working as designed. If so, I feel the design is
faulty.
I'm using The Bat! Version 1.60h
Serial Number 35D66563
under Windows 2000 5.0 Build 2195 Service Pack 2
and would like to report a bug
The bug description:
If a nickname is entered into an address (TO, CC, etc) field on a
message and the user fails to tab or press the enter key while the
cursor is not in that field, the nickname is not resolved. I
understand that is "working as designed". I would suggest that
the design is faulty. In just too many cases I have just pressed
enter to move down or have been doing a forward and just pressed
the send key. I understand that you may want to send to a local
net or even to your IP with just a single unresolved name letting
the IP assume (as mine does) that the proper address is
[EMAIL PROTECTED] Actually you wanted it to go to
[EMAIL PROTECTED] and you typed the nickname and it was not resolved.
I very simple solution for this would be the ability to set a
switch in account preferences that would cause THE BAT! to warn
anytime that an attempt is made to send to an address that does
not have an @ in it. The switch would default OFF and would not
cause any problems for current users as the default action would
be the same as it is today.
Steps to reproduce the bug:
Type an address nickname that is not resolved in your address book
and send it. This assumes that you DO NOT have autocomplete turned
on.
