It's hard to say .. what I know about the proxy is I load
it on the server system, and hope I don't have to tweak it
too much, because I don't know a lot about it :-)

Mine communicates through localhost, too, bottom line, I
believe - without that, you don't get communication at all
if I understand it correctly. I have been thinking it
might be something in SMTP timing out somewhere, or
something along that line. There are sometimes 3 people
sharing this connect, and it wouldn't surprise me if there
was an occasional bottleneck.

I have only had a very few sticking instances with it, not
nearly enough even to try to track them down. I haven't
been able to find any pattern. The casual prodding I have
done hasn't turned up any errors, useful or otherwise, so
I've been putting it down to some minor conflict or other
on the proxy machine, and hoping it won't get worse. It's
been several weeks at least since I saw the last one, so
it's not a high priority here.

I don't even know where to tell you to start. I posted
sort of hoping someone more knowledgeable would have a
clue, really.

FWIW, I'm running Wingate 4x on a Win2kPro system, same sp
and build as my system. There is no mailer or browser
active on that machine. WG uses the RAS dialer. Wingate
does have a firewall, but I had occasional instances of
this with the previous versions which did not.

Hopefully a communications wizard will see this ..
