This is very annoying, it would be wonderful if they could just
add an option to don't show horizontal scroll bar in folder
window......

I try not to touch the area! I think since the folders will bold
up when there is unread, that the numbers are an option.. so an
alternate idea would be to have an option to set a fixed width of
the folder pane or have options on what columns to display (aside
from folder names)..
