This is a rather pointless disclaimer when sending a message to a
public list. Could you use an address book template for this list that

Delete the folders outside your account. When TB asks what to do about
the messages in your folders, choose 'keep message base files intact'.
The result of this action should be that your account folders still
exist with all of their messages intact.

If for whatever reason the folders inside your account disappear too,
they can be reclaimed by simultaneous pressing <Ctrl>Shift><Alt><L>
while the folder tree panel is active with your account selected.
