I don't think it has to do with this problem, but it's also sensible to purge and compress often and to keep the number of messages in a folders below the 10000. Don't know, the same reason that the account.flx file gets altered, might also be the cause that other files get corrupted. Losing a folder will mean that any folder templates (and other settings) will be lost too, otherwise you'll be safe.
