I know exactly what you're talking about. It's never really bothered
me, so I've never checked to see what causes it.
What happens is if you have it threaded by reference in ascending
order (like created date), and you are on a single message (non
thread), with a threaded message above it, then you do something like
delete that single message, it will automatically expand the thread
that was right above it and focus on the last message in that thread.
e.g.
+ Some other threaded messages
+ Some threaded messages
A single message not in a thread
If you delete "A single message not in a thread", it looks like this:
+ Some other threaded messages
- Some threaded messages
+ Some sub thread
- Another sub thread
Message that gets focus
I don't know if that's considered bad behavior or not. I guess if it
bugs you, then it is. <grin>
I think Allie might have the solution when he said to sort decending
instead of ascending, but I prefer to read top down in threads (newer
messages at the bottom), vs. non-threads, which I do in descending
order (new messages at the top).
What I generally do when reading threads in to look at the first
message in a thread, then holding the shift key down, I hit the right
arrow, this opens the thread, focuses the next message in the thread,
and highlights those two messages, and I continue doing this till the
whole thread is then expanded and highlighted, then I hit the delete
key which deletes the whole thread leaving me focused on the first
message of the next collapsed thread below it.
Works for me! <grin>
Cheers,
Leif Gregory
