Ahhhh I wonder if this is why I get a problem? I don't use a dial up
setting - I'm on a LAN so it's set to use the Network connection
always.  I have a similar problem using ICQ instant messenger as it
doesn't always detect when the LAN's internet connection is off-line -
I suspect The Bat! is having the same difficulty.

Same here - it connects fine anyhow so I left it unticked. I'll try it
ticked and see if that solves the problem - it may tie in with the
above - i.e. telling The Bat! that it is on a Network here.

Win 98SE on a Windows network via hub, using ICS to connect to the
internet via a v90 external modem attached to the gateway PC over a
standard BT line.
