AFAIK, every TV set and monitor nowadays (TV in Germany at least since 1968) do have a *Degaussing* function, which doesn't de-ionise but de-magnetise the tube - at start-up (switching it on). It's the loud "Boing" noise one hears. Shouldn't put magnetically sensitive appliances like watches near a TV/monitor. This de-magnetising is needed to get clearly separated colours, if the tube is magnetised it will show psychedelic colours like green faces ... -- Dierk Haasis The Bat 1.62/Beta6 on Windows XP 5.1 2600Service Pack 1 Never trust a woman who tells you her real age; if she tells you that, she'll tell you anything.
