Hello tbudl,

I have been following the threads on the *freezing* problems
associated with ZAP. I have experienced this as well and have found
that it is always associated with the same file that is being
downloaded from the mail server. It stalls on the same one every time.
When I disable ZAP, the file downloads just fine. When I look at the
file I cannot find anything unusual about it. ZAP must be detecting
something in the file and instead of popping up a message or
quarantining the file it somehow stalls TB while it is retrieving the
file from the server.

I looked at Kerio, and it does not have a feature which checks the
content or extensions on email. Or if it does it is not included on
the list of features on their website. If my suspicion is correct,
that it is the email monitoring function of ZAP that is the culprit,
this also explains why Kerio works so well with TB. I have turned off
the email checking feature of ZAP and will see if the problem
returns.

VBG> Hello tbudl,

VBG> Maybe some of you are aware I've been experiencing
VBG> *freezes* on my XP system while running The Bat! along
VBG> side Zone Alarm Pro. Though it rarely happened, maybe
VBG> once or twice a night it was, for me, too much.

VBG> The Kerio firewall seemed to be well took by The Bat!
VBG> community so I've decided to try it.

VBG> I had problems with Kerio 2s Internet connection sharing
VBG> and plus it looked dull but the Kerio 3 beta 5 works
VBG> smooth, great and plus it looks awesome!

VBG> I really love how it plays firewall with my applications,
VBG> asking permission if one app can use or install another.
VBG> That is very cool.

VBG> There is just one tiny irritant about it. Unlike ZAP it
VBG> seems to ask for permission for every thread a program can
VBG> spit out.

VBG> I would like to say yes to the parent program and all the
VBG> child threads are permissioned for the session. Is that
VBG> possible?

VBG> I ask because 3 of my programs I would have to say yes
VBG> to dialog boxes close to over 30 times. That is the only
VBG> real annoying feature but everything else is excellent.

VBG> I'll get to it in the morning as I am really tired right
VBG> now but if anybody has a tip to share or something that
VBG> can help, I'd be entirely thankful.

VBG> Thanks, goodnight, sweet dreams, be good :)
