Hello Dave,

DC> This article, from the U.S. Washington Post, discusses missing email
DC> capabilities:

DC> <http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A20494-2002Dec21.html?referer=email>

The person who wrote the article lacks the knowledge
required to write such an article. One key point on the
persons poor research abilities published on Sunday,
December 22, 2002 are

"Pegasus Mail (last updated substantially in late 2001)."

I am no fan of Pegasus but to my knowledge last update was
August 24, 2002
http://www.pmail.com/newsflash.htm#WPM402

He states an argument of the clients automatically
displaying HTML e-mail, which might be the case for some but
doesn't make a reference that most will offer a choice to
view messages only as text and how some clients default to
view only text.

To me the author seemed fixed on his own ideas of what makes
a client safe and he made a few bad examples of some clients
in the process.

I can honestly compare e-mail to sex and clients to a
prophylactic. E-mail can become a very dangerous routine and
leave you caught out there with a spam disease but is it the
clients fault? Will you really put a prophylactic on your
foot when you do it? You really should learn how to use it
heh?

It takes a lot to learn how to send and receive but is it
really the clients fault the user decides to stop it there?
Doesn't the user also have a choice? I had OE, dropped it,
had Eudora, dropped it, had Mozilla, dropped it and moved
on.

The author only mentioned I believe 3 out of literally
hundreds of clients to choose from.

Overall it wasn't an article about how clients lack
progress but about how the author chose three products to
speak badly about. If he knew about The Bat! would he have
still spoken negatively in that article or could he have in
it's place put something positive about The Bat!?

MY .02 cents

I am sorry, this is off topic but sometimes you gotta get a
little crazy to survive. Please do not mention bandwidth as
an issue either and do
