That's an incorrect statement. Only data that is requested will be
forwarded to your computer. NAT isn't going to forward anything you
don't request unless it is setup in such a way to do so.

Not protection, that is standard behaviour of all proxy servers...
er... I correct myself... *should* be standard behaviour of all proxy
servers. Proxy servers shouldn't forward data they are not requested
to, but some come setup to allow all data to be forwarded.

I'm slightly confused at your setup. Is the computer running TheBat
behind a proxy server, or is the POP3/SMTP server behind a proxy
server? If TheBat is behind a proxy server, then the proxy server
cannot be working correctly if you explicitly had to forward data on
the POP3 connections onto that computer. If it is the other way
around, then that is expected I guess.

Just as a note, top posting (which you did to my reply) results in a
lot of over quoting, and is often difficult to follow threads in
emails. Just as a silly example:

A: Because it wanted to get to the other side

Q: Why did the chicken cross the road?

Not only does it make it difficult to follow threads effectively in a
conversational type manor, but it results in a lot of over quoting. In
this case, you included all the list footers, plus my PGP signature,
and probably a lot of context that wasn't needed.
