I wouldn't call this a bug, it's more an annoyance. Select text using the mouse, by starting at the end of the block of text (right hand side) and drag the mouse to the left of the screen _until_it_touches_ the left hand side window border: the selected text cannot be deleted with the Delete key.
In fact, the selected text is not "fixed" because, for example,you can drag the mouse and the selected area will change _without_ also having to keep the mouse left button pressed down.
