There's a great little program called eCleaner that'll do this in a
couple of mouse clicks.  You copy what you want to "clean," open
eCleaner and click on the appropriate icon (a >> with a circle and
slash through it).  It takes out the >> and copies the cleaned-up
version to clipboard.
