I must have hit a weird key combination while typing a command, and my Main ToolBar detached from the top of the screen, and is now a floating toolbar.
I searched 'Help' and the on-line FAQ, but haven't been able to guess at the right keyword, to get the solution to this small and somewhat amusing problem.
