Because of TB!'s problematic MAPI handler, I have had to try some alternatives to get a mail client to work with a case management program I use (Data.txt's "Time Matters"). I tried Eudora, which worked better than I thought and has a more robust MAPI driver than TB!, but there was management (archiving) confusion resulting from having two mailboxes open with shared mail, so I am using the internal mail client from "Time Matters." It's not too bad, but it ain't TB!, which I am going to continue to use for (a) receiving all mail so that I can archive appropriately and independently of the other program, and (b) non-business mail. So, with that background, here's my question, which is admittedly off-topic except that it is necessitated by TB!'s problematic MAPI handler: if I restrict "Time Matters" to only the ports I need for mail and to specific addresses where I want it to connect on ports 80 and 443, will I effectively prevent web bugs and other nasties from taking root? I am, by default, not viewing in HTML, but occasionally it is necessary to do so. (Moderators, if this message topic is clearly over the line, please just kill it quickly and quietly. Otherwise, all opinions welcomed.)
