In case you didn't realized it, there's a simpler way to say that:

Hello %ABtoFirstName="%SetPattRegExp='^(.*?)([.@, ]|$)'%-
%RegExpBlindMatch='%ToName'%SubPatt='1'",

In other words, the AB macros work like this:

%ABtoFirstName="Use this if there isn't one"

I use this deeper combo myself:

%CAPITAL=+%IF:"%ABToLastName"="list":"%TOFNAME":%-
"%ABToNamePrefix='%ABToFirstName=#%ABofromFIRSTNAME=.%TOFNAME.#'"+%-
%TO=""%TO='"%ABofromCompany=_%ABofromNAME=/%OFROMNAME/_" <%TOADDR>'

Which demonstrates how you can actually cascade the overrides.
