Hi Martin,

I use the backup feature in theBat because it saves the program
settings along with the mail. It is also very fast.

However, I also use Mailbag Assistant to handle my Archive
files. I had nearly 10,000 messages that I kept and removing it
from the Bat made backing up a little faster.

Mailbag Assistant is pretty fast and you can reply/forward any
message you find. You can also create simple scripts to backup
your mail anyway and anywhere you want. You can then create a
shortcut and run the script automatically say, from your
      desktop.

Again, theBat! gives Mailbag Assistant a run for its money
because theBat! is so fast and can search/sort/filter very well.
Nevertheless, I would give Mailbag a look.

Below is an example of a Mailbag script I use to backup my mail
to CD-RW. Pretty simple. Let me know if you have any questions
or try the Mailbag help group:
      http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mailbag/

Open "+F:\thebatmail\*.tbb"
ApplyFilter
Select All
Transfer
DefaultView SubsetGrid
IfError End
DeleteFile "X:\All_Current.mbg"
SaveMailbox "X:\All_Current.mbg"
Close
Quit
