This has to be nonsense, or the spam in my inbox is not
representative. Not a single one claiming to come from The Bat, many
many many from Outlook.

I take it he has blocked Outlook as well.

And if he thinks he can block spam by filtering on an X-Mailer header,
he should probably be in another job anyway. In fact, if this is the
quality of people employed by your brother's ISP, I think it is time
for him to change ISPs.
