I haven't been on the list since back in 2001. So excuse me if I don't know any of the buzz words. I will try to describe what is happening as best I can.
I had the bat 1.60 installed. I think I accidentally copied thebat.exe 5,698,560 .a.. 8-01-03 22:47:50 Which is apparently from tb200b01.rar, to my main bat directory "c:\mail." Before you go jumping on me for posting to the wrong list, hear me out, I couldn't find the subscribe to TBBETA or whatever it's called now, and I want to stick with 1.6x (1.63r) I Need my mail back from my Inbox asap. although I Know that stupidity on my part does not constitute an emergency on your part. I have not seen the beta pages on the website.. Am I freaking blind? Anyway, here's how the problems started, I first noticed that I couldn't delete a message in the inbox. (one of those spam messages) So, I thought Okay lets move all the files from Inbox to another folder Inbox2 and then right click and "Empty the folder" problem is... no messages will move from Inbox to Inbox2, the bat locks up. and in Process Viewer (From VS6) I see all the threads are 8 (Normal) Cpu is not pegged or anything, just the bat is just locked up. So I am thinking, Oh god, maybe the index got hosed. So I delete MESSAGES.TBI now all the messages are gone in the inbox. heh. So I think, and I decide to try copying a message from suse-linux-e to my Inbox, the bat locks up. Now I am getting worried. No messages can be moved from any folder to any other folder, any attempt to do so ends with a locked up thebat. Okay, I think... hmm, lets try to import the 195MB MESSAGES.TBB file that is still in the inbox, thebat locks up. So I try exporting from my Sent Mail folder to Unix MBox and I have success. However, I also notice the (I think it's called common control dialogs?) lock up thebat. e.g. if I try to import MESSAGES.TBB by clicking on the pop up "choose a folder" dialog, it locks up thebat. I have to "know" the drive:path/file.ext to avoid this. This also happens for import. Although I have NOT got import to work at all. So I have since tried putting tb200b01's executable back in, and re-tried all the above again and I get the same results. I tried 1.60, 1.63r same results. Totally screwed, I have now, renamed c:\mail to c:\mail2 and reinstalled 1.63r (Is this a full install?) to c:\mail because I was having trouble receiving mail with all the filters that kill my spam. In other words, I am barely on the list at the moment. What's the URL to TBBETA list[s] if any. If this gets any worse I will be forced to use a linux mail client. My main goal is to recover the mail from the inbox. a 195MB file. My second goal is to fix thebat and get everything back on 1.63r or 1.60 (you tell me which one I should use.) I don't mind playing with beta's when I got time and A separate directory, but I don't really have that time needed at the moment. Even with the newly installed thebat 1.63r I still can not delete messages. The common Dialogs lock thebat up etc. No message import from .TBB files. Haven't tried Unix MBox yet. that's next. ________________________________________________ Current version is 1.62r | "Using TBUDL" information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
