For prerelease software, this is unpredictable. Some of us may have
problems while others don't. In fact, this remains the case even after
release though the problems should be much less.

Try it at your own risk. I'd be irresponsible for saying otherwise.
Let's just say that I've personally been using all the betas and haven't
lost any mail. I haven't had any showstopping experiences either. Many
others will surely confess a similar experience. It's up to you to take
the plunge. :)

Note that I've been using only POP3 accounts and haven't been using the
new IMAP support. If you're looking for problem free usage, then I'd
definitely wait for the full release version before trying IMAP.

For POP accounts, yes.

If you're using IMAP accounts, you'll have to first convert them to POP
before upgrading. You'll then have to create new IMAP accounts and then
transfer your mail over to the new IMAP accounts.
