Actually Ctrl+Arrows are used for moving to next/previous unread message. Alt+Arrows are used for moving to next/previous viewed message. This is how they are described in the pop-up menus :-) Ctrl+Alt+Arrows should be used to move to unread messages when the preview pane is selected.
