Ouch, I'm the bad guy! <grin> Again, not using a cut mark was something we've already tried. If people properly trimmed the list footer and signatures from their replies, then I would have no problem doing away with the cut mark. However, people generally don't and therefore we get a fifth level reply with five list footers and five sigs. Then that starts up the whole roar over people who have to pay for bandwidth by the amount they've downloaded (not flat rate). As for why you (Pranav) believe the list is rude and unfriendly, please, by all means show us where. Maybe we missed it. Maybe you misinterpreted. Who knows, but show us why you believe it to be rude and unfriendly rather than just saying it is and expecting anyone to believe you. As for some of the people who said they check over your messages many times before sending. Why? A very simple template fixes everything. It'll put the cursor in the right spot automatically so you don't top post, it'll automatically put in a cut mark so your sig and list footers get removed when someone replies. It won't help much in overquoting, but it seems like relatively common sense. Get rid of anything that doesn't pertain to what you're commenting on. i.e. quoting the line "On Friday, December 23, 2009, 10:00:00 AM, you wrote" doesn't do anything other than clutter up the reply. Quoting the "-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1" stuff is in the same boat. The template is simple, here's mine: Hello %OFromFName, %ODateEn, %OTimeLongEn, you wrote: %Quotes %Cursor <dash><dash><space> <-- Done for the RTV viewers so it looks normal.
