Yes. And mostly.

YMMV. This is quite a can of worms. Depends on whom you ask, when you
ask, sunspots, phase of the moon, etc. I *always* keep attachments in
separate folders. I've had too many problems over the years with
corrupted message base files. They aren't frequent, but they're
disastrous when they occur. And trying to parse the database files
with a hex editor is *much* easier if you're looking at straight text
without binary attachments getting in the way.

But, other folks have other opinions and have had different
experiences.
