I have noticed this kind of behaviour elsewhere with Mozilla, though I haven't looked into it yet. For the sake of completion ... the issues which began this thread have been resolved. For a reason unknown to me the filters I had set up (both the account based one and the common folder based one) kicked in straight away when TB started the next day. Both filters are now working perfectly except for the problem above. I don't have a DOS window problem.
