It is legal, as you pay for it.

They will get customer support and upgrades like everybody else,
because they use a single-computer licence on a single computer.

I have purchased a licence for my mother some time ago. I see no
illegality in that. It's another paid-for software on her computer.

I recently helped out a veteran TB user when he wanted upgrade to TB2,
and he didn't have a credit card, so I used mine, and he sent the
money back to me. He has a distinctly different S/N from me, so there
is no doubt that he is entitled to everything a buyer can expect.
