I'm using that same mouse here but have changed the programming of the
back and forward buttons which are intended for browsing the web with
your browser and not necessarily using TB!.

I'm surprised the buttons did something for you. Anyway, let me
experiment and see.

Upon resetting the buttons back to their default behaviour, I see what
you mean. I'm getting the same behaviour. If you're using the
Intellipoint drivers and are interested in using back and forward to
go through mail, then you could use an application specific
configuration for TB! and switch the buttons around.:)
