OK. Then I'm not crazy.

Well, I thought about this awhile back. And it crossed my mind again
recently. I have a couple of accounts set up that I use only for testing
(website stuff, scripting, etc.) and only use while developing. Putting
both accounts in a folder would sort of "hide" them until needed. Mmm
maybe not that useful...

There are aesthetic reasons for hiding an account.

But here are two more "real" uses:

1) In communicating with Allie about IMAP folders, the idea of moving
mailing list folders to IMAP was brought up. Because you likely wouldn't
want to try to sync TBUDL with thousands of messages with your IMAP
server, Allie's suggestion was to create two accounts - one IMAP for
working with current messages (maybe synching the last 30 days or so)
and one POP account for archival purposes. You could also use Common
folders for this, but a separate account may be desirable in some
circumstances.

2) As I've posted before, I have a simple filter that redirects messages
to my cell phone as a text message. My provider (AT&T Wireless) allows
free receipt of text messages and I can send using an e-mail address.
Their servers also truncate the message for me (because I'm too lazy...)
Anyway, the filter only redirects messages when the screen saver is
active (when I'm away), and I've grown to really like this notification
of business mail while I'm away from my desk.

v2 IMAP does not support automatic filtering yet. But I really want to
start using v2 and feel like it's really only this one thing that's
keeping me from fully committing (currently use latest beta on laptop,
1.62r on desktop/main computer). My idea - at least until I can
implement the redirect I described - was to set up a POP account on the
same address, with the sole purpose of redirecting messages when I'm
away. I don't want to see that account in the account window. I have
enough accounts as it is. It would be nice to hide that in a folder
with other accounts not currently active (archived/unused/testing).

I know that that the ideas I'm throwing out are fairly ridiculous. Take
pity and call for automatic filters!
