Hello , I once went to a backup (image) of my system partition that was two days old and recognized strange behaviour while fetching mail, probably because of the "last message marker" stored somewhere in the registry, I assume - but as you can see this is a bad idea..
this "highwater marker" should be stored with the accounts, I propose. I took a look into thebat's registry settings, but could not find anything highwater related, so there has to be something else that confuses thebat if you restore it's registry entries from two days ago. At first catchup (after restoring zhe backup) I received Socket errors: [02:22:48] C: Connected to 127.0.0.1, port 110 [02:22:48] S: +OK POP3 POPFile (v0.20.1) server ready [02:22:48] C: USER xxx [02:22:49] S: +OK May I have your password, please? Socket error: #10054 (0x00002746) The "socket error" appeared 585 times while there were only 580 mails. After fetching nothing TB said 580 mails, 580 new. The POPFile log does not say ANYTHING about this session..?! What I also found confusing was that tb said "Retrieiving (sic!) message header #1 (1/580)" for quite a while, though I did not invoke the dispatcher and have no selective download filters. On the next "Get new mail" it downloaded these 580 messages again. Posted this on TBBETA (<mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED]>), but no answer. It was with tb 2.04.2.. -- shinE! http://www.thequod.de ICQ#152282665 GnuPG/PGP key: http://thequod.de/danielhahler.asc Using The Bat! v2.04.7 on Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 Service Pack 1 with POPFile 0.20.1 and avast Jan2004 (4.1.342). ________________________________________________ Current version is 2.04.07 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
