Hello Batters!

In replying, many times, the quoted text is preceded not only by > but
also by a string of initials. Where are these initials grabbed from?

In the example below the "ig" are the senders initials but I cannot
find where the "hc" came from!

On Sunday, February 29, 2004 thus spake ian:
ighc> Hello;
ighc> I live in Ontario Canada and want to know if I purchase
ighc> on line from you will you ship to Canada and how much
ighc> are the shipping costs?
ighc> Thank you.
