Information on how to join the beta list and how to download betas are all provided via the tbudl information pages, the url for which is in the footer for each list message.
While using IMAP, I'd say that you're basically a beta tester. <g> It's an implementation that's not without problems and incomplete in its implementation. So, yes, you could try the latest beta and see how it shapes up. The only fix to problems like the one you're having is to report it on bugtraq <https://www.ritlabs.com/bt/> and please include the ISP involved or even better the IMAP server being used, if you know which it is. I use my own IMAP server MDaemon, and I don't have the problem you're having. I never had it with the version you're using as well.
