Ok then.

Try compressing the Outbox.

If that doesn't solve the problem, then delete and recreate the
account. One IMAP user solved a similar problem by doing that. Being
able to delete and recreate the account is one of the advantages of
IMAP. :)

Discretion is the key here. A good rule is that if the reader ends up
having to scroll to get to your text below an quoted text block then
too much quoting has been done.

I also feel conscious of sending a message that has far more quoted
text than replied text. It's a carefully deliberated action on my part
and has to be soundly justified. Far more quoted text for me is say
more than double the amount of original text.
