I've been successfully using TheBat! with POPFile to tag
SPAM for about a year now. I have both programs scheduled
to start automatically when my machine boots (and auto logs
in). Unfortunately, most of the time, TheBat! starts
checking for new mail before POPFile is loaded (or ready?)
and then hangs FOREVER.

That is TheBat!'s 'checking mail' task that is hung. I
cannot exit TheBat!, because a task is active. It refuses
to abort the task, despite offering that as an option. I
can only use the Windows Task Manager to KILL the program
entirely. When I restart it after POPFile is running, it
works just fine.

The problem started with my upgrade to TheBat! 2.12.00
The earlier versions seemed to just time out the first mail
check if it ran before POPFile, then later tried again, as
it should be. The current one may not be hung, but if not,
I cannot guess why it cannot be aborted or why the timeout
would be over two days (it rebooted once right after work
on Friday and was still hung Monday morning).

FWIW:

  TheBat! 2.12.00
  Windows 2000 SP4
