I think there was strange non-text symbol in message (with code #0 or
#255 or something like that).
So source viewer cuts text on this symbol.

You're naive.
PNG 1024*768 = 45 Kb is normal.

PNG use another method of compression for !noh-photographical! images
(glyphs, logos, screenshots and so on).
