I would recommend K9, as well, and SpamPal.

I've had K9 running with The Bat! for about 6 weeks and it's 98.5%
accurate.  All the inaccuracies now are false negatives (spam
misclassified as good), because spammers keep finding new combinations
to bypass bayesian filters.  The ongoing training is a bit of a
hassle, but I kind of enjoy it.

I have also been running SpamPal on an Outlook Express system and it
continues chugging along at 100% accuracy, with the only intervention
being periodic updates.

For a no-brainer spam filter, go with SpamPal.  For a filter that,
while requiring a bigger learning curve and more user involvement, can
be fine-tuned for your own breed of good mail and spam, try K9.
