Yes. First thing I did, upon installing SP2 on my Desktop last August,
was to disable the SP2 firewall and replace it with Sygate, which was
already on my machine.

This notebook is a little 3-pound Sony VAIO that I've had in its
packing box in the closet since January 2004--partly out of cold feet,
partly out of procrastination, and partly out of lack of time to set
it up: I spent the winter/spring of 2004 selling my house in the town
I had moved from, and I spent the summer/fall of 2004 learning to do
Roguemoticons and Smileys. :)

I *like* Rogues and Smileys!

Went smooth as silk for me--I did it with an Automatic Update
download, but I ordered the CD, knowing that I had the little Notebook
to bring up to speed, eventually.

As to the backup--don't really understand the need in this situation?
XP has its Restore function, of course.

And this is a brand-new machine. Packaged with the Windows XP-Home CD,
as well as Windows XP-Home already installed on it.

I'm really Off-Topic Big Time with this thread.

If you're not subscribed to TBOT, why don't you do that, Andrew? We
are discussing my Today's Adventure over there. :)

But thanks for the great support, here. :thankyou:
