If you open the Address Book, select Personal address book, and Properties (Alt+Enter) what is the file location? Is it something similar to "C:\Documents and Settings\your-account\Application Data\The Bat!\TheBat.ABD" or the location of the file listed above? If it's the temporary folder you mention then the original file could intact in its original location.
