I barely know anything.

But I'm willing to go back to looking at this as a TB! problem. Since
going backward to previous builds didn't fix anything, would you
consider temporarily trying a beta?

The latest beta is a rar and is quite stable for me, using POP3.

Additionally, if you did sign up as a beta tester and get beta version
3.5.36, you could tap into the expertise of some very knowledgeable
people who read and post to TBBETA (some of them make a living as
programmers, others have done so before retiring or going into another
career). Further, the TB! programmers themselves are reading TBBETA
more frequently than TBUDL--at least that's my impression, as I do
read nearly every post on both lists.

Well, consider my idea above just as speculative brainstorming. But
also, I haven't found dealing with betas difficult. I've only been
doing it since September, 2004. And I'm very much a rank amateur when
it comes to computer technology.

My fellow TB! subscribers are the ones who have educated me, to the
extent that I'm educated. Where I manage to be helpful, the credit
goes to them. Where I come up with wrong-headed ideas, the fault is my
own.

Anyway, HTH.
