However, I have just tried to "purge & compress old messages" with a manual maintenance, and it is working just as well. I don't use folder specific deletion settings, those only affect the way the messages are deleted and should not affect the auto-deletion. Now, that doesn't exactly solve your problem. You could try to set the deletion settings to default. If it works then, it is a bug that should be reported as a new issue on the BugTracker site. You could also try to turn the "on exit ... remove old messages" option on/off and see if that is working. Again, if it works with the option on, it is a bug.
