You have solved 2 out of 3 problems. The 3rd one is the system one for
the menu bar, and I can live with that.

Problem arose when changing the monitor to 19" LCD using digital
connection.

Worked fine in the old resolution 1024x768, but became smaller and had
jagged and broken edges in 1152x864. This needed ClearType font
smoothing. All the other programs are happy.
