In v2.x you could set separate sounds for different accounts. I have not been able to do so from 3.x on. The sound that is triggered for incoming mail on account "A" is the same sound that is heard for incoming mail on account "B." I don't know if is related to your problem, but it sure "sounds" like it is. If memory serves, this has been reported under BT.
