I read them all (1997, several dozens) including CD-RWs, except these
Arj files on CD-RWs.
CD-RW = Verbatim DataLifePlus HI-SPEED EPS (not bundled,sealed)
CD-R = Verbatim DataLife Extra Protection Surface (not bundled, sealed)
Writer = LG 52x32x52 GCE-8532B
Generally - lifetime of a CD-R is about 5-6 years, "officially".
- lifetime of a CD-RW ... /-: ... I don't know. Should I expect
the same/similar?
Another solution is to do backup on (mobile) HDDs instead. Cheaper,
faster, much more rooms for the same money, and all at one place.
Lifetime ... well, same. In general.
If you have a better suggestion, then please tell. My ears are open.
Hmmm... I have a torch in backpack working on electromagnetic inductor
and a compass... Hmmm... Do you know perhaps if I kept them near to
these CD-RWs? I can't recall... Why then only Arj files...
As to so "superior" "modern" technology... Bach's writs endured tens of
years and even centuries, and even being {mis|molest}used for
envelopment of sausages (the fresh ones above all, hence with very
lively chemical activity) and pork (even more lively in this sense, and
we know how hard is to get rid of blood[y] blots)...
