Well, that's just as bad as my own solution:

Add an action that creates a message to myself with this template:

%To=myaddress%-
%Subject="Execute this"%-
@echo off
d:
cd \Backups\thebat
ren weekly.tbk %DATE="YYYYMMDD".tbk

And an outgoing filter that exports %Text to a batch file and executes
it. (Only for outgoing messages to myself with this subject.)
