There are two ways to forward a message. You can forward the old
message as a part of the message body of the new message and you can
forward it as an attachment.
You can make that choice in
  Account -> Properties -> Templates -> Forward -> Forward as attachment
Whatever way you select there is the default way to forward any
message. When you select 'alternative forward' it selects the non
default way.
