As personal address book templates have precedence over all other
templates (including address book group templates) the only probable
reason for this behaviour is multiple entries for the same address.
Those other entries may be entries with the problem address as
secondary address and also entries in another address book group.
Remember that TB defaults its address book groups as 'hide items if
not explicitly selected', that means that when you're searching in the
root of the address book you won't find addresses in those groups.
The same happens when you've got addresses in multiple address books.

It sounds unkind, but nevertheless I suggest that you look again.
