I'll agree that you can block a base URL that way, but not a domain. The problem is that the spam image URLs are of the form http://imgXXXX.imageshack.us/pictYYYY.gif - of course I can block individual images and even a subdomain (imgXXXX in this case), but there are hundreds (thousands?) of subdomains.
