I don't make much use of tabs, since I was using TB! long before they
were introduced and already had convenient ways to do most things I
want with viewing messages. The tabs I have are "all," "unread,"
"parked," and "with attachments." Occasionally I want to temporarily
view a folder by "from" and have usually done this by clicking the
"from" column header, and changed back to my default by clicking the
"created" column header. A "sorted by from" tab makes sense, but would
only make it quicker when I was making more changes (like removing
"group by date") as well as sorting by sender.

I would probably use Tools | Search to find messages with that
sender.

That's weird. The all, unread, parked tabs are applied in the new
folder immediately; these are "fast searches." I tried creating a
"sorted by from" tab; in my TB! v4.0.38 I can only do this by creating
a view mode, then selecting that view mode as a tab. I don't know if
that has changed by your v4.2.23. But I also find that moving to a
different folder while the "sorted by from" tab is active results in
the standard view of messages being shown in the new folder, even
though the "sorted by from" tab is shown as active. Applying it as
global view mode, it works correctly when switching folders. Remove it
as global view mode anf the folders display as normal. (My global view
mode is usually set as "(No view mode).")

As a "one-click" solution, they are indeed good for temporary changes
when viewing one folder. They don't function as I would expect when
changing folders - I would either expect the active tab to change to
the usual view of the folder you switch to, or the view presented to
match the currently active tab.

Lack of money is no obstacle. Lack of an idea is an obstacle.
