Jason sent me a workaround for CDV-444. I'm quoting him here:

Run this command from trunk/code/base:
./tcbuild dist_maven maven.snapshot=false
That will put "release" versions of all config modules and other
artifacts in your local Maven repository.

This has helped me to move on with one of my tests that use Maven
plugin. I totally share your pain in working with TC Maven plugin so
far but since 2.5 and the TC plugin are being in development in
parallel, this situation happens.

That allows a 2.4.3 Geronimo plugin to deploy.
Rather than try to make the 2.4 line work we should work on fixing any
issues that exist in 2.5.
Well...we can debate about whether it will work, its simply placing jars
in there under 2.4.3. In any case, what is the roadmap for the release
of 2.5?
If you could enter JIRAs about the problems you have encountered we
will work on those right away.
