What really is pissing me off is the already cited lack of failure/timeout handling, and the lack of support for a standalone toolkit able to work when no connection to the Terracotta master is provided. Unfortunately, both seem to be ranked as low priority, while I think they're essential for production/real-world usage. Anyways, thanks again for your answers.
