The Department of Computer Science has a vacant Assistant Professor position
(tenure track).

We seek talented, motivated academics who have completed their doctoral degree
three to seven years ago and have since accrued academic and other relevant
qualifications. Successful applicants will be employed as assistant professors.
The duration of the employment contract will be two to five years, depending on
the appointee’s background and experience. If the appointee produces successful
work which fulfils pre-determined criteria, employment may be continued with a
second fixed-term contract, after which the appointee may receive a permanent
position as professor.

The academic qualifications and teaching experience of applicants will be
considered when making the selection. Additional merit will be granted for
working outside Finland and other international experience as well as
experience in acquiring research funding.

For this vacancy, all applicants representing computer science or its
multidisciplinary applications will be considered. The appointee is expected to
integrate his or her activities with the Department’s focus areas (algorithms
and machine learning, networking and services, and software systems), possibly
by expanding them in a new direction.

In addition to conducting research of the highest international level, the
assistant professor is expected to actively participate in teaching at the
Department and to form his or her own research group.

Application deadline is Oct 12, 2011 at 3:45 PM.

The full announcement, including additional information and application
instructions, is available at
