Due to multiple requests, the submission deadline for SeNAmI 2012 has been EXTENDED to November 15th, 2012
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4th edition of the Workshop on Sensor Networks and Ambient Intelligence (SeNAmI 2012) NOVEL CONCEPTS ON THINGS, INTERFACES AND APPLICATIONS IN SMART SPACES Call for papers ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Workshop website: http://www.grpss.ssr.upm.es/senami2012 Co-located with IEEE PerCom (International Conference on Pervasive Computing and Communications, http://www.percom.org), March 21-24 2012, Lugano, Switzerland Special Issue in MDPI Sensors http://www.mdpi.com/journal/sensors/special_issues/smart_spaces/ Paper Submission: November 15, 2011 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- * Motivation and scope Smart spaces, pervasive computing and ambient intelligence are different terms to allude to the capabilities of systems to 'adapt' and 'respond', in order to provide the right service in a timely, unobtrusive and friendly manner. When conceiving a smart system, it is key to define how to seamlessly, effectively and securely it will interact with the user, both to gather the appropriate information to work and to provide the required service. To date, most practical interaction strategies in smart spaces have relied in the use of mobile devices as mediators (e.g. mobile augmented reality). Recently also a number of methods based on natural interfaces (such as tangible ones in smart objects) have been proposed and demonstrated. This workshop focuses on advances in technologies and concepts enabling novel interaction models to link the physical and virtual world layers in smart spaces, to create innovative applications which make intensive use of ambient and personal information to deliver value to their users. Our goal is to organize a forum for attendees to share experiences and discuss novel ideas for easy, friendly and effective interaction and applications in smart spaces. Following the success of previous editions (Dunedin 2008, Hiroshima 2009 and Hong Kong 2010), the fourth edition of this event once again aims at bringing together researchers from academia and industry to present and discuss recent trends and advances in supportive technologies for ambient intelligence. Not being restrictive to, suitable topics include: - Architectures for handling smart items in responsive spaces - Context management for interaction in smart spaces - Reasoning and learning techniques for interaction in smart spaces - Cyber-physical systems for human-centric applications: tangible interfaces and smart objects - Internet of Things - Sensors management for interaction - Advanced (mobile) ubiquitous applications - Privacy, security and trust management for interaction in smart spaces - Prototypes, testbeds, and real-world deployments - Field evaluation of user experience * Submission and Proceedings Papers should contain original material and not be previously published or currently submitted for consideration elsewhere. Manuscripts must be limited to 6 pages in IEEE 8.5x11 conference format, and formatted in accordance with the IEEE Computer Society author guidelines (http://www.computer.org/portal/web/cscps/formatting). All submissions will be handled via EDAS (http://edas.info/N11413). Accepted papers will be published by the IEEE Computer Society Press in the combined PerCom 2010 Workshops Proceedings and will appear on IEEE Xplore. Authors of selected papers will be invited to submit extended version of their work for publication in a Special Issue on 'Sensors and Wireless Sensor Networks for Novel Concepts of Things, Interfaces and Applications in Smart Spaces' in MDPI Sensors (ISSN 1424-8220, http://www.mdpi.com/journal/sensors/special_issues/smart_spaces/). Sensors is indexed by the Science Citation Index and other databases. * Important dates Paper Submission: November 15, 2011 Author Notification: December 20, 2011 Camera-ready Due: January 27, 2012 Workshop date: March 19 or 23, 2012 Submissions for SI: March 31, 2012 * Committees - Steering Co-Chairs: Adnan Al-Anbuky, Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand Jose Ramón Casar, Technical University of Madrid, Spain - Program Co-Chairs: Ana María Bernardos, Technical University of Madrid, Spain Boon-Chong Seet, Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand - Technical Program Committee: Petteri Alahuhta, VTT Technical Research Centre, Finland Birger Andersen, Copenhagen University College of Engineering, Denmark Juan Besada, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Spain Dario Bruneo, Università di Messina, Italy Gabriella Castelli, University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Italy Elisabetta Farella, Università degli Studi di Bologna, Italy Laurent Herault, Leti-CEA Grenoble, France Jesús García Herrero, Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, Spain Lars Michael Kristensen, Bergen University College, Norway Ricardo Neisse, Fraunhofer Institute of Experimental Software Engineering, Germany Nicholas D.
